Following over 50 events for Denbighshire’s youngsters and contact with over 2000 adults, Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych back on another successful year in their calendar.
At their recent annual meeting, Vice Chair, Gwenan Prysor, noted that Menter Iaith’s work, a registered charity, has reached almost 1400 children during 2024 and 2025 and that over 100 events have been organised for adults over the year.
“Credit must be paid to the small team of staff here at Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych, who work tirelessly to promote the Welsh language and offer opportunities for children, young people and adults to use the Welsh language within their communities. They achieve a vast amount from little resources and the positive impact they have on groups and organisations within our communities is vitally important in Denbighshire.

“During the year, the team that equates to 3.5 staff members has expanded, thanks to a project that employs a part-time officer to promote the Welsh language in the Hiraethog area. The financial support for the role comes from Clocaenog and Brenig Wind farms in conjunction with Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych and Menter Iaith Conwy.”
With solid governance, the treasurer reported that the financial situation is healthy and that the coming year looks to be a busy one, yet again.
Menter Iaith’s Chief Officer, Ruth Williams said: “Plans have been confirmed for the funding of a new project which expands the provision we have promoting the Welsh language in the coastal areas, within the towns of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Rhuddlan.

“We have also now settled in Y Farchnad Fenyn, in Denbigh, a great location in a modern twenty-first century building for our staff and visitors. The team has rooted well and the location in the centre of town is easily accessible for partnership work.
“We are looking forward to another busy season within Denbighshire’s communities, promoting the Welsh language, supporting organisations, organising events and doing our best to improve the opportunities throughout the county to use the Welsh language.”
