This was the first of a series of walking tours in south Denbighshire, where learners will have the opportunity to become more familiar with their locality and learn more about the area’s history under the guidance of various leaders.

With Arfon Hughes being extremely knowledgeable about the history of Owain Glyndŵr, it wasn’t long before the learners were showing curiosity and asking questions. It was an enjoyable walk, learning more about his history and his principality, as well as having the opportunity to visit a motte-and-bailey site—not to mention, of course, the chance to practise speaking Welsh in a relaxed atmosphere.

The weather was wonderful, and with seven new Welsh speakers present, it was a delightful circuit with magnificent views of the surrounding area, along with the occasional rabbit running freely in the distance.

A cup of tea at Glyndyfrdwy Hall at the end of the walk provided a great opportunity for the new speakers to get to know each other better.

Many thanks to the South Denbighshire Community Partnership for their support, and we look forward to the next walk at the end of this month. More information will be released soon!

Motte-and-bailey mount

View of Glyndyfrdwy

Everyone listening to Arfon

Sign on the A5

Glyndyfrdwy Village Hall

Walking towards the paned!

A wonderful guided walk was held on Wednesday, 29 April in Glyndyfrdwy, led by the experienced guide Arfon Hughes.
