Do you remember Lleuwen Steffan’s recent tour reintroducing the lost Welsh folk hymns to the Welsh public. Here in Capel Mawr, Dinbych we had a fabulous evening! In an exciting development, Lleuwen will be back in town, on Friday 16 May, at Theatr Twm o’r Nant with her new Production, Tafod Arian which combines these recordings with recordings from Welsh sound archives to create new music that has both electronic and acoustic elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ruth Williams from Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych who is promoting the event through the Arts Council’s Noson Allan scheme: \u201cLleuwen had the opportunity to hear and record unknown hymns from members of the public during her tour last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFortunately for us, in Dinbych, Lleuwen has agreed to come back to combine those recordings with some of the sound archives of Amgueddfa Sain Ffagan\u2019s Welsh History to create new music. We are truly excited to hear this new project!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The performer will be joined on stage with the talented multi-instrumentalist, Gethin Elis, and renowned singer and songwriter from Brittany, Nolwenn Korbell. A new film created by Aled Victor will also form part of the performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tafod Arian will pay tribute to the voices of the past, infusing their timeless melodies and lyrics with contemporary arrangements and heartfelt interpretations. This production gives new life to archive recordings, ensuring that the traditional hymns of Wales, once loved by the nation, claim their place on Welsh stages today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project is commissioned by Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru with support from the British Council and the Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
