Mentrau Iaith Cymru (MIC) is delighted to announce today a new campaign for 2024 called \u2018Dyblu\u2019r Defnydd\u2019 (Doubling the use). The campaign aims to open a channel of communication with the public to gather ideas of ways to increase the use of Welsh in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign launches at the Mentrau Iaith Cymru National Conference today (24 January), and will run online, inviting the public to voice their ideas about how to increase the use of Welsh in their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dyblu\u2019r Defnydd falls under the Welsh Government\u2019s commitment to increase the number of Welsh speakers by 2050 and focuses on increasing the day-to-day use of Welsh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mentrau Iaith Cymru is a national organisation supporting the network of 22 Mentrau Iaith across Wales. MIC will collect the ideas and commit to considering each one and implementing them, where possible, through a relevant Menter Iaith, regionally, nationally or in partnership with other organisations, or indeed with the relevant community. Not every idea will be practically possible, but MIC will respond to every idea that comes in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The public are invited to submit their ideas via the MIC website. Community groups will also have the opportunity to put ideas forward as individuals or as a group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Myfanwy Jones, Director of Mentrau Iaith Cymru, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s great to see this campaign being launched today. It\u2019s vital that there are plenty of opportunities for people to use Welsh on the ground and in their communities and we want to hear from people about their ideas. Often, we hear \u2018what we need here is\u2026\u2019 \u2013 and this is people\u2019s chance to formally identify those ideas. I\u2019m sure there are great ideas out there about how we can increase the use of Welsh in our communities, and we want to emphasise that no idea is too small or too big to be considered!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
